lyrics

Stay away from old friends for your own sake,
Close the door and keep all windows shut,
Kindle fire and breed in your heart
Vain hopes that flame may protect from the plague.

Blackened bodies are shrouded in snow,
Dead eyes see icy kingdom of Hel,
Souls betrayed northern gods will not go
Where their ancestors dwell.

Asgardr’s locked, here come devastation days,
No more roads lead to blessed Oden’s realm,
Human lives – new god owns half of them
And half was given to Aurgelmir's race.

Blackened bodies are shrouded in snow,
Dead eyes see icy kingdom of Hel,
Souls betrayed northern gods will not go
Where their ancestors dwell.

Fear and death reign everywhere,
In a vestry lies a priest,
And unfinished stayed last prayer –
He has ceased to breathe.

In 1349 the plague raging in Europe has reached the shores of Norway. The time of prosperity was over. No tears could cry the departed, the destitute found no shelter and the deceased were left unburied. Shuddering with horror, people recalled the legends of Ragnarök and appealed to once forsaken gods... But the gods of North have denied them!

Blackened bodies are shrouded in snow,
Dead eyes see icy kingdom of Hel,
Souls betrayed northern gods will not go
Where their ancestors dwell.

Run and hide – she is coming! Awake!
Don’t you hear her merciless strides?
For no closed doors exist for the plague,
And death has many a guise.
